In which case you don't need a headphone socket. Any line output will
do.

Mine plug into a 3.5mm headphone jack. I don't know if they are designed
to run off of a line output.

In practice as far as the transmitter is concerned there's not much
difference. All you'd need is the correct leads or adaptor.
