how about a faulty temperature sensor?
Could be - but I'd guess it's part of the CPU.
I've no idea how much of this temperature sensing circuit is internal to
the CPU and what is part of the motherboard. The CPU has a 3 year warranty
and is only half way through that, so if it is it that is faulty I might
be able to get some recompense.
