As a cheap media centre they are an ideal bit of kit. They won't do hi-def
video , but for downloaded TV shows and similar material that's not an issue
, and they can be had for well under a hundred quid with a big hard drive
and remote already included.

When I get a flat panel TV I'll probably replace mine with a cheap PC , but
I'll certainly re-use it on another TV in the house as it's so handy.

I've already thought about this myself for my recently purchased
Plasma, but the Xbox does look like a fun and cheap 'project' in the
mean time.

The only possible problem is finding them on ebay as the listings get pulled
if they mention "chipped" so you have to look for "upgraded" and other
similar terms.

I'd imagine the 360 won't be as easy to upgrade in teh same way as it uses a
laptop sized hard drive in a plastic case rather than a straightforward
desktop drive.
