Hi all,
The proposed upgrading of the antennas at the Winter Hill
transmitter was supposed to be completed before Christmas, according
to info on a number of websites. Since the beginning of this month
the service has been atrocious with very low signal strength for
days at a time, usually on all but the main BBC multiplex.
Occasionally, the evening starts with an excellent signal
strength at my location (south Cheshire) and then it suddenly becomes
unusable. Sometimes the analogue signal takes a dive in signal
strength as well. I have a good signal strength and 100 % signal
quality across all multiplexes when things are working as they
should. I am using a Topfield 5800 (Oh all right, a Toppy!) and my
distance to the transmitter is 57 KM.
Does anyone know how long this substandard service is going to
last and if there is anywhere on the web where the relevant
authorities will share the info with the rest of us?

Thanks,

Chris

OK, I may be being pedantic here, but I've noticed certain people
using KM as a measurement in the UK when our unit of distance is
miles. Surely it must be harder to work out the distance in KM when
everything is in miles? So, 57 KM is roughly, what, 35 miles? Sorry
this hasn't helped with your original question.

Marky P.

If you want to be pedantic it's km not KM

Thanks Adrian, I knew it didn't look right after I had posted it!
