What sort of TV? Every one I've ever owned has the audio output
switched with the vision. It's basically just a feed before the TV's
internal power amp. Of course if you obtain the audio via a SCART it
may well not switch with the vision.
The external audio out on the latest Sony Bravias can either track the
set's own volume control, or be fixed. There's an optical out as well.
But is linked to the source selected?
You can also define what falls out of one of the Scart connectors, i.e
tuner or another AV input etc.
Yes - I had a Philips 4:3 set that did that - to allow dubbing between VCR
and DVD etc. Very useful.
What I would say about the W3000 is the internal speakers are rather
poor, and fire out of the rear. My parents have one, and in order from
them to hear a decent amount of HF, I ended up buying some small PC
speakers at Argos, and put those either side of their set fed from
audio out, to project a decent sound forwards (in addition to the
inbuilt speakers).
'Design' above sound quality has been a priority of set makers for a long
long time. After all, who listens to the sound in a showroom?
