Hi:
What is the minimum frequency an FM carrier signal must be in order to
transmit uncompressed luminance [Y] video signals with the least
degradation in video quality?
S-VHS recorders use a carrier frequency of 5MHz so I expect that's the
lowest practical frequency?

Thanks but I not talking about recording. I am talking about
broadcasting Y-signals over the air via FM radio carrier waves. What's
the minimum frequency required for this? Is it also 5 MHz?
To answer the question you'd also need to know some other specifications.
The allowed peak modulation (peak deviation) , level of distortion
acceptable, etc.
Slainte,
Jim
