I asked about those here a while ago - I dare say Bill will be along
shortly to explain it :-)
I think as well as allegedly better gain that they reduce ghosting. I saw a
rash of them installed in an area where ghosting caused by blockes of flats
in near line of site of Crystal Palace was common. Sort of like a phased
array, giving a narrower horizontal sensisitivy and a stonger vertical one.
The above could all be rubbish of course :-)

couple of bent elements, and any attempt to straighten them will lead
to them snapping clean off.
