Hi,

Got a new PC yesterday. It's such a pain in the arse getting it
customized to how I had my old PC. All those downloaded programs I no
longer have any passwords to. I've tried transferring what I can off
my old PC's hard drive with some success and some failures.

You should have transferred your old hard drive (or a clone of it ) to
the new PC, operating system, programs et al.

Actually what you need are REGDUMP and REGADD probably. You need to find
the entries in the registry for the programs you have and transfer them to
the new machine. This MIGHT make your old programs work - but it might
not.

I wouldn not bother with that. I make a copy of my old computer and made
a 'folder' on the new one (was onnly about 3 giga bytes) then if I wanted to
use an old program I just ran it from it's location in that folder.
Never had any probs runing them IIRC most good ones don't use the
registry as its basically a stupid unnecessary idea for any program to use
it,
hence microsoft uses it, and of course microsoft programs are the slowest,
most
unstable, most useless and bug ridden piles of shit in the universe.

Any program that won't run from its folder is a pile of crap not worth
having.
