Well, thet's the plan, but I need some way to watch regular TV too.
And composite video is not what I was after!
The cable on Amazon I pointed to, or a similar one from Maplin, will
let you use the VGA port connected to an RGB SCART on a PVR, which is
probably the best compromise, giving you the widest choice of PVRs and
set top boxes.
Otherwise, one of the few boxes that offers component, or an RGB to
component converter.
Nigel.
OK, thanks.
Yes, that would be an OK compromise, if I it actually works.
I'm not is a position to test it yet.
RGB over SCART uses the sync from the composite, doesn't it?
VGA inputs usually require seperate H+V sync, at TTL level.
I'd have expected some active sync seperator electronics be required to seperate out the H+V sync from the composite, and gain them up to TTL level for the VGA sync inputs.
I'd a bit dubious about how a passive cable can correctly provide VGA syncs from a SCART source.
Perhaps it just does some fudgery with a couple of capacitors, feeds a under-voltage composite H+V sync to both inputs, and hopes for the best?
