Wrong most people like to have the most effective aspect ratio
possible
and whether you believe in initelligent design or darwin evolution the
fact
is that you ended up with 1:1 (round). Some people may have thier
heads
stuck so far up their own asses that the 'prefer' 16:9 or 2.25:1 but
then
some people have don't know thie own ass from their elbow.
Far more happens in the horizontal plane than the vertical. 16:9
exploits that fact.
No, 16:9 is far to wide, a letter box view is totally inadaquate for
human
visual needs, thats why we never evolved such a view in any manner.
That's not what I said. I said far more happens in the horizontal plane
than the vertical plane and 16:9 exploits that.
No it does not 16:9 is far to wide and results in excessive horizontal
panningand scanning or verticallt cropped pictures or unecessarilly
distant shots to cope with the lack of height in the picture.
Compare 16:9 and 4:3
coverage of any football match - 16:9 allows the viewer to see far more
of the peripheral action, like a player running up the wing, while 4:3
just shows you only the central action. 4:3 is archaic.
Rubbish fotballl is ruined by widescreen you hardly ever see any
close up action anymore as it looks ridiculous through letter box
you can see players in one axis but not the other, it is totally
pathetic and laughable. A player can be very close to the ball
but you can't see him because of the pathetic inadaquacies
of moronic widescreen.
Any bias towards the horizontal is adaquately covered by 4:3 which is
incidently also the ratio of our visuual fields.
The human visual aspect ratio is nearer to 16:9,
http://www.fordav.com/publications/cb12.pdf
"Notice that no part of the 3:4 [film/TV aspect ratio] had anything to
do with how pleasing images in this aspect ratio actually are visually.
And in fact there is not anything intrinsically appealing about 3:4
pictures. This is why the movie industry, which at first regarded
television as a major threat to its revenues, was quick to develop a
whole series of wide, panoramic screen shapes which included Cinerama
(2.76:1), CinemaScope (2.35:1), 70mm (2.05:1), and the currently
familiar Panavision (1.85:1) - the prevalent "letterbox" ratio. Any of
these widescreen formats is a better approximation of the human visual
field than the boxy, nearly square shape of a TV screen."
That is utter crap from start to finish, obviously writtenby some kind
of retard, I doubt the guy eeven has a GCSE in woodwork.
