If it was working and he updated the firmware the shop will not
except it back cause it was fit for purpose when sold. The owner has
altered the box (firmware) and made it unfit for purpose. The shop
may send it back to the manufacturer for repair or they may tell you
to do it yourself. Either may they will not take it back.

The firmware was updated by the manufacturer, *not* the customer, who wasn't
given a choice. You clearly have no idea how things work.
