It's a curious obsession, prowling the Internet to warn people against the
perils of inadequate surge suppression. I dimly recall once attempting to
engage him in a discussion about whether or not plug in suppressors had any
merit, which hinges on whether or not there exist voltage transients, rather
more modest than those from a full blown lightning strike, which might
otherwise cause damage. I made no progress at all, as he just kept
blathering on about the urgent need for whole house protection systems.

And usually quoting about USA systems and electrics!!!
