I watched it on BBC 1 using an old Pioneer ITV digital receiver in
conjunction with a 28in Crown widescreen TV connected in RGB mode.
From a distance of about eight feet the pictures looked to be pin sharp,
with very few perceivable artefacts, even when switching to and comparing
with a clean analogue input.
Perhaps some receivers do a better job of smoothing out any imperfections,
you're not by any chance using a 100 Hertz TV are you?.. as I've noticed
that some of these can look quite dreadful (from an artefact point of view)
even with an analogue input.

Why is it though that two major terrestrial channels feel compelled to showing the same thing, reducing what limited Freeview choice that we have?
