When playing the dgital sound from a DVD through my multi channel AV if a
light is switched off there is a dip in sound for a moment, anything I can
do?

Do you play anything analogue through the box and if so, do you get the same
dip, for example if there is a built-in radio, does the radio also get a
"blip"? If so then no better connect can solve this because the blip is
probably coming in through the mains cable.

There is the outside chance that your light switch is knackered and
generating a big spark inside which is getting picked up by radio but that's
less likely.

You could try a mains filter (not an audiophile so can't recommend one -
someone else here probably can ;-) ) and see if that clears things up.
Remember to filter box DVD and Amp (and maybe the TV too!).
