Sony Trinitron Scart Input Problem

I have an old Sony Trinitron Model: KV-X2152U (S/N:4008372) 21" TV.
Recently I purchased a Sony VTX-D800U Digital Receiver so I could receive
Freeview channels.

Unfortunately there is a problem with the television picture when I am
watching the Freeview channels. Basically, the picture keeps breaking up.
Sometimes it seems to just drop a few random patches, other times the whole
picture and the sound breaks up. Occasionally the entire screen goes black
and only the station ID banner across the top of the screen will appear.
The random picture dropout seems to occur more frequently in areas of the
picture where there is image movement, rather than areas of unchanging
background image. The dropout is in the form of random patches made up of
quite large, square pixels.

I've spent a long time trying to isolate the problem, including trying
another Sony VTX-D800U Digital Receiver and another television. My original
VTX-D800U works fine on the other television and I still have the fault on
my television with the second VTX-800U. The fault definitely stays with my
television and seems specific to the scart input. There are no picture
problems when watching the terrestrial channels through the VTX-800U via the
RF aerial input.

The problem is present right from switch-on, and doesn't seem to be affected
by the set warming up. I'm fairly certain the problem has to be an
intermittent contact somewhere.

Sometimes jiggling the scart plug in the TV socket will resolve the problem
for a short while, but I can see nothing wrong with the scart pins or solder
joints. I have tried a new scart lead

I have re-soldered all the scart socket pins and anything else on the pcb
that looked suspect (Sony dry joints are legendary).

Can anyone suggest what the cause of the problem might be?

Or, maybe I should buy a new TV?
