It's hard to tell if it's a mismatch, or simply the TV tuner lacks
sensitivity. Sounds as if your signal is still quite fragile, if it
can't cope with daisy chaining. Tell us more about the age and condition
of the aerial, amp, and downlead. Also how are your analogue pictures,
particularly C4 on Ch 65, and what is a much lower powered C5 on Ch 48 ?
The aerial was put in a couple of years ago, to replace the cheap one
that previously existed in the loft. Unfortunately as I've got a
pyramid-shaped roof, the aerial was mounted in the loft space.
As for amps, I've tried several different ones - the results always
being the same. All the freeview channels (excluding 66 and 68) are
well received on the TV; on other dvb devices the signal strength
appears higher (significantly so for 66 and 68).
I've just checked analogue reception - ch4 (on 65) looks almost perfect
and ch5 (on 48) is pretty good. (This comes from someone who used to
live within a few miles of the Mendip Penhill transmitter and is used to
perfect reception!)
TV's sensitivity at the top end of the band seems to be lacking, itFrom the information given I think there are two issues. First, the
might be a fault, it might be a design 'feature' there's no way to tell
unless you swap it.
Secondly loft mounting is bad news for signals at the top of UHF. Your
roof tiles will significantly attenuate signals, and this attenuation
raises the higher up the band you go. Additionally if the tiles are
red, then their colouring is obtained by adding oxide to their
composition, even worse news !
However, as C4 analogue on Ch 65 is OK, my gut feeling is the biggest
contribution to your problem comes from the TV's tuner response.
Awkward as it is it may be, I'd try and swap it :-(
(If it's any consolation, come analogue switch-off, UHF Chs 63-68 might
get sold off, and no longer be used for TV. Your troublesome muxes will
move down the band :-) )
