Bear in mind I haven't played with it much for obvious reasons:
(good)
It's quiet, there is no system fan and the hard-disk spins down a few
minutes after it's not being used.
The remote control is a new curvy one, not the old looking one in the
marketing material.
Construction seems reasonable given the price
The software seems to be the same (or very similar) to some other non-PVR
boxes I've set up recently.
The disk looks like it can be swapped and a format option is available
(bad)
Standby LED is around 10 times brighter than needed. (This should be easy to
fix when/if I get a working box)
Tiny channel display
Persistent No Signal Errors, requiring a re-boot
Frequent hangs when in standby requiring a re-boot
some sound problems on ITV (which mine doesn't have - incompatibility with
Winter Hill TX apparently)
The 3rd party warranty company are taking details of owners who want a fix,
and this is rumoured to be either a box swap or OTA upgrade, neither of
which have yet been confirmed by them AFAIK.
I'll give them a fortnight to come up with a fix because if it worked to
spec then it's good value, I'm in no hurry. There is no risk here, Aldi's
return policy appears to be excellent.
