Is that "laid" as in "laid on the table for discussion," or "laid" as in "are about to come in to force?" It doesn't explicitly say that the regulations are in force, or give any coming into force date.
Anyway it's crazy. In the notes to editors we read:
"2. The current planning regulations for satellite dishes and other antennas are inadequate in that there are different regulations for each type of technology. This is inconsistent, choice restrictive and contrary to the Communications Act 2003 which requires technology neutrality. The amended permitted development regulations will subject all antennas, whether satellite dishes or any other type, to the same rules."
.... And ignoring the wavelengths and power flux densities of the signals, directional discrimination requirements, path profiles and just about any other technical consideration you can think of that requires different shapes, sizes and placing of antennas for the different platforms. It's clearly written by someone with no understanding of the RF considerations at all. But so nice to know that aerials for cable TV will be subject to the same planning laws as satellite dishes ;~0
