We look for a certain gross profit per install, so if someone rings up
and says they've bought the gear and would we fit it we simply charge
the normal full price less the trade price of the parts, plus a bit
because it's always more trouble when this happens.

Surely everyone prices on a 'what will the market stand' basis'?
Otherwise competition wouldn't regulate prices.

That would never do. A lot of people like to imagine that the aerial is
90% of the cost. People will pay for goods but they don't like to pay
for services.

Incidentally there's a hidden element in the price structure. If we
recommend a good aerial and the customer opts for a cheaper one, I
personally wouldn't be inclined to provide 'over and above' services,
like sorting out all their scart connections and generally
re-installing all their gear.
