Here we go again.

Look, I'm not denying that mobile reception was one of the main goals,
but it is ridiculous beyond belief to try and suggest that CD-quality
audio wasn't one of the main reasons DAB was designed.

For example, the first time I ever saw any mention of DAB was on
Tomorrow's World (which will probably have been aired around the same
time as the demo you're talking about), and the one and only thing that
stuck in my mind was that they said it would provide radio at
CD-quality, ....

Tomorrow's World is an entertainment programme. If you are basing your
entire logic on what was said on it, then you are starting from the wrong
place.
