Re: BBC FM networks borked

The vast majority of DAB owners (a) own portable radios, and (b)

supposed to be better, and they're I'm afraid naive.

Perhaps they believe what they've been told because it appears
rational and doesn't seem to conflict with their own experience?
Perhaps they're content with the sound quality from their portable
radios, or simply don't think it's very important? This is a long way
from being "delusional".

The only time I used the word "delusional" was here:

"If you think that low bit rate DAB sounds better than FM with typical
reception quality you're delusional."

and I stand by what I say, although I may change "delusional" to "hard of
hearing".

Personally I'd agree with you that the sound quality of DAB radio is
disappointing, but then I've had plenty of opportunities to hear what
the best audio technology can offer. I'd also agree it's a shame to
do something badly when you could do it well, but reality is that,
sadly, not everyone has that attitude. If you hope to persuade more
people to realise the inadequacy of digital radio sound quality, I
don't think you'll get very far by telling them that the inadequacy
is in their own appreciation of it. You'll just annoy them and
they'll continue to listen to their DAB radios but not to you.

I'm not trying to convince Mr Plowman of anything - I gave up on him years
ago, and he's been in my killfile for the last year or so probably. But I've
just taken some people out of my killfile because I noticed one of the
people in it calling me dishonest "behind my back", i.e. I couldn't respond
because the person was in my killfile and it was only by chance that I saw
him say what he did. I dunno, where Plowman's concerned it's probably better
to put him back in, because he just wastes so much of my time with his
infuriating nonsense, but he's pretty harmless with it.
