Instead of relying on a 3rd party service, you could just run a web server on your _own_ PC and tell the others - family members, collegues, etc. - to connect to that service.

This would allow you to share as large files as you want; even entire folder trees from your HDD.

For example, if you're running Windows, you could use the free version of Abyss Web Server...

....and simply tell the others to point their browser to the public IP address of your PC or your broadband router.

Instead of using the raw IP address, you could also get a dynamically updated DNS hostname, always pointing to your computer, from a free service such as DynDNS:

Or, as another option, you could use the Core mini sftp server...

<http://www.coreftp.com/server/download/msftpsrvr.exe>

....which the others could access using, say, the WinSCP client:

<http://winscp.net/eng/download.php>

Naturally, you would need to enable incoming connections to your computer via certain ports (80 for the web server, 22 for the sftp protocol) so that the others can actually connect to the server you're running on your PC. But how this is done in practice depends on what kind of network setup, firewall, and router you currently have.

(If you'd like to try out these kind of solutions, you could ask more in uk.comp.home-networking.)
