I'm not comparing the treatment - there is no question what the
Japanese military did back then is completely unacceptable and has no
place in a civilised society.

The point is, how do you feel having people making blanket statements
about your culture, based ONLY on the actions of your country's
military during wartime?

Because they completely ignore or deny *any* responsibility for the
activities of The Ever Victorious Army.

Yes, the Japanese committed awful atrocities during the war. That
doesn't mean that they don't have a respectful culture, as a whole.
Almost no-one alive in Japan today supports, sympathises with, or
justifies the actions of their military some 60 years ago. It's
unreasonable to make blanket statements about "Japs" (itself an
offensive term) based on that small fragment of knowledge and nothing
wider than that.

You obviously haven't heard about the rising tide of Nationalism within
Japan, which is being fuelled by the ignoring Japans actions during WWII
almost thoughout their education system.
Infact a system has been generated which is creating the type of scenario
which creates the kind of resentment seen in pre-war Germany.

Otherwise, if you DO think that way, then the parallel is that our own
English "culture" is as horrific and atrocious as the acts of rape,
torture, murder, and worse, committed in our name in foreign
countries. Are you still comfortable with that argument?

WTF?
Comparing the activities of soldiers who were punished for any activities to
the organised and systematic rape and torture throughout The East-Asia
Co-Prosperity Sphere, is at best astonishing.

You can't have this both ways. Either both of those statements are
true, or neither of them are.

A false dichotomy.
