Fascinating to read this, because I'd have thought that cotton wool buds
would be a lot softer and less abrasive than paper. Evidently the risk of
snagging the threads of cotton wool on the head is more important than the
risk of damaging the head by abrasion.
RS sell some foam disposable tools for cleaning VHS tape heads. They are made of a kind of foam material. Helped me bring back to life a VHS player I recovered from the dump (one of those mid 90's Pannys which went on forever which was why I recovered it)
