Ran a few tests this morning Dave, nothing wrong when I access the RP
site, opened multiple windows each loading a seperate RP site and
switching between cards, all ok my end. Are you using a Router? Do you
have a software firewall?

Yeah I have a software firewall but then I had it when the old site was
up and running with no issues. I've also tested with the firewall off
and still same problem. I think it's more to do with the fact there is
so much javascript in use on the site. I will test with Firefox/Google
Chrome etc and upgrade my java to see if that helps but I can't see
they performed proper load-testing on this new site using a mix of
browsers as it would clearly have shown up during testing.

Right, well I have been using the Seamonkey browser for a while now
(don't ask - I have my reasons) and it seems that this browser has
really suffered by the extra use of JS/Ajax on the new Racing Post site
so I'm going to have to ditch it as a browser which is a shame as it has
a number of features that I find very useful, mainly the built in mail
and newsgroups function.

First thing I thought I would try would be to download and install IE8
Beta as I have read there are much improvements with this browser from
IE7 in terms of Javascript/Ajax so as the RP recommends IE7 then IE8
Beta must be even better.

I then ran through the SunSpider Javascript Benchmark Utility which
performs a number of Javascript tests in the browser and compared the
Seamonkey results to the IE8 Beta results. This showed a x2.29 speed
improvement -:

So I figured that I have paid the price for using a non-trendy browser,
probably not just on the RP site but any site utilising lots of
Javascript.

I then decided to perform the same tests comparing Seamonkey to Firefox
3 as this guy has done (specifically to measure JS performance between
the two) and was amazed to see a x6.42 jump in performance which means
Firefox is roughly x2.8 times faster than IE.

So summarise all the tests -:

Seamonkey - 28521ms

SO Google Chrome is the fastest with Firefox also decent so looks like I
will be ditching Seamonkey for good and using Google Chrome and Firefox
, only using IE for those sites that don't support the fast boys !

Well I have never liked IE, period. In the good old days I used Netscape
Navigator, now it's Firefox for me. BTW Dave I use version 2.0.0.14 of
FF, version 3 when it loads really slows my PC. Have you tried Opera?

Yeah I used to use Opera - like it's functionality of getting windows on
one screen but not used it for a while and according to what I have read
it's one of the slowest in JS benchmark tests...

Think I am going to see how I get on with Google Chrome and use
Thunderbird for my mail newsgroups and completely remove Seamonkey suite.
May also try out Firefox 3 and see which one hammers the CPU/Memory most
on overall usage but I'm done with IE unless I come across a site where
Google Chrome or Firefox are not supported.

I see you use Sea Monkey, have you tried some of the add ons for scripts
etc? Also what about all your security settings within Internet Options?
