There are several companies offering "Electronic Wallets"
some charge you, some the trader, their commission.
That said you can only spend the deposit with franchised
traders who are able to accept such payments.
Sporting Bet lists several, and AFAIK, Betfair accepts
PayPal.
PayPal debits the costs of eBay purchases from my
Debit Card, on a per transaction basis, I assume it
could equally well be from a Credit Card, so is
it suggested the card issuers will trawl through my
PayPal (or through electronic wallet) transactions
to identifyany gambling related transactions? Then
charge me £3 per transaction?
Typical banks, they introduce ATM's to save money
by sacking most of their counter staff, more convenient
for you (and cheaper for us) they said. Then the
floodgates opened for fee charging ATM's.
We will save money by killing off cheques with
electronic transfers from debit and credit cards, now
they are introducing fees for gambling related
transactions, next it will be a fee for all transactions.
Bit like Parking Meters, the revenue they raise will
finance more off street car parks and clear our
streets of congestion. All we got was a small army
of meter attendants, and the massive heirachy of
controllers and administrators. And London now
has the Congestion Charge.
