compatible. WOW. It killed me. A driver install that kept crashing me pc. Went to DOS and deleted every trace of the software and associated drivers. Kept crashing. Once Vista tries to install a driver, it dont give up in a hurry. The driver was not there, but it still kept crashing.
Ian,
One feature of Windows XP, and I think 'Vista', is called 'System Restore'. Your computer, from time to time automatically establishes 'restore points'.
If you have an unaccountable failure such as you describe it is often a quite simple exercise to go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and choose a restore date prior to the date of the last item installed or saved. Do this and , voila, everything works again as it did prior to that date, while any 'data' established since that date is still preserved.
In the reputed words of Michael Caine.."Not many people know this"!
cheers

The restore function would not function from CDROM boot, and Vista would not start to enable system restore -
tried but would not have it.....
:o)
