get back to the golf..................playing Alwoodley on Thursday, any tips ........John Hallas & Co. ??

Keep it on the fairways!

Exactly, or take plenty of balls. Should be very quiet midweek
Enjoy the game.

.... and enjoy the game we did. I'll let Chris give the result ;-) but it has to be said: Chris Booth is a total diamond geezer!

Greeting the participants on the tee with ana already sorted out green fee and a goody bag of tees, marker, repairer and pencil. He aeven rranged for perfect weather and clear fairways in front.

Conversation to remember:
CB: Don't bother looking lads, I've got plenty!
DD: But you might need it!
CB: Look, I've got loads in my bag, even if I lose one a hole I'll still have loads.
DD: Yeah but at the moment you're averaging two a hole and I reckon you might be cutting it a bit fine, matey!

Super afternoon/evening had by all, even England won! Thanks for being a great host Chris
Don't know what you mean ! Booking made by DD, Tips on course layout from DD, Advice on how to hit a golf ball DD, Meal location choice DD, even persuading everyone to the boozer till 11.30 DD !

All I brought to the evening was the players (& my wallet!)

Anyway the result:- the 2 golfers were drawn together as team "A" (both single figs HC) the hackers (19 & 27) made up team "B" team "A" won the first 2 or 3 holes easily, then team "B" were convinced that the marker on team "A" had switched from a matchplay format to stableford, i.e. we had both been picking up. Anyway my partner scored virtually all our 12 points on the front 9 (& we were 9 behind). So we lost the first half,
we then started (or I did) to hit a few good shots & by the 14th we were up by a couple of points, finished the round by playing the last holes half decently. The "A" team did they level best to give us the back 9, DD even blobbed on one hole & managed to miss the fairway!

Great evening, smashing company as always, many thanks Demetri !

(Chris, "DD how many times do you play?" Demetri, "oh about 3 times a week, on average" Chris, "this is my 3rd game this year!")
