The problem is that all of Lowe's figures in the report seem to add up....<snip>

I remember a few years back they were making a big thing of it because we were like one of 2 or 3 Premiership clubs that were actually running at a profit. Running at a loss doesn't always lead to situations like they had at Leeds. They got a bit out of control with it. But certainly running at a loss is fine if the sucsess it brings is in proportion.

But I think the key to this division is that you will make more money long term taking risks and getting promoted then you will stuck in this division without taking any risks. I'd be interested to see teams like Leeds, Reading, Shef Utd and Crystal Palaces' books. No one has suggested any of them are in any danger (now) of liquidation due to huge debts/losses, but I bet they are not balancing their finances as "well" as we are.

I agree up to a point. On the otherhand, the club took on alot of debt when building the new Stadium. As I recall about £30m+. From what I recall of my quick browse the other day, its now about £20m. So I think much of the money has been spent reducing the debt, which would make the business much more stable from a longer term point of view.

Worth noting that Reading have a rich benefactor. He's always said he'll use his money to improve infrastructure (eg stadium, training facilities, etc) but not the team. He wants to ensure the club can be self sufficient, ie making an operating profit.

People have different management styles and view of debt and risk. Lowe is certainly conservative and risk averse. Then again, so might we be if we had the same amount of cash tied up in the club.

I noted that Lowe's shareholding is worth around £625k I think. I reckon if we club together here and form our own consortium, mortgage houses etc we could buy him out. Anyone here feel like risking their own money rather than having a go at other's who've done the same? :)
