Aye I saw this on teletext earlier, you'd have thought given the
sensitive
nature of it they would have worded it a little better.
I'd hate to think it was some twat from one of his rival teams trying
to be
funny..

"..as having cancer of the testicles which has spread to his brain."

Good luck to the big fella, I always loved to jeer him like crazy
because of
his on-field persona and boisterous manner - but I actually warmed to
him
once he took his seat in the commentator booth. He was always blatantly
celtic biased in his opinions, but he came across as a genuine big
lad -
someone you would like to have a pint with.

Looks like its going to be an intensive couple of years of treatment,
and
from experience it'll be torture on him and his family.
Hopefully they'll be able to get rid of it and he'll be back to his
best
sooner rather than later.

The MacMillan Cancer Support charity really are fantastic when it comes
to
helping folk through the ordeal of cancer - from financial aid to
general
friendly advice and counselling - I'm sure they'll do their bit for him
too.

I genuinely wish him all the very best in his recovery.

Incidentally I have been growing my beard since December of last year,
and
its almost time to put it on eBay with all the proceeds going to the
MacMillan Cancer Trust - I'll post the link here when I'ts up, so have
your
bids at the ready! A brilliant charity by all accounts.

It's very sad to see this. A guy that gave alot of happiness to many a
Celtic fan, especially during Old Firm games. I wish him every success
in his fight against the dreaded C...

Which has apparently spread to his lungs ....found after his
operation.

Maybe i should be a doc after all<did wonder why it had not hit his
lungs.Things do not look good and looks like its spreading at a heck of a
rate and have an awful feeling about this.Wondering if they will next say
its been found in other organs such as the liver too.I know they said
there was an 80% chance he would make it but i would have thought the odds
are not as high.Thoughts are with his family right now as it must be hell
for them.Hope the big man hangs in there like Moore and Stubbsy did but it
looks like this is a more serious case now its spread.

The spread of cancer is 9 times out of 10 through the parathyroid glands
which are located in the groin, armpits and neck areas, so its perfectly
possible that it can be found in the testicles and brain/throat/mouth
without ever showing in the lungs.
I agree with you though that 80% does seem a little high given the new
information and the fact that he was 'rushed' into hospital to relieve
pressure on his brain today.
Poor big bugger :-(
