Since the list of batsmen who have played in Australia after the age of 40
is very short, and was even shorter at the time, you need all the evidence
you can get if you're going to try draw any conclusion.


The list is short because common-sense tells you that a man in his forties
is unlikely to stand up to the rigour of the Australian climate and
massive grounds. RH

It's a good job that the selectors didn't make such an assumption about
Hobbs in 1924 and 1928.
