Fletcher on Pietersen's catching

KP's catching has been under scrutiny on this group before, so I was
interested to read extracts from Duncan Fletcher's book published in
yesterday's Guardian.

Fletcher says that he & Trevor Penny watched Pietersen's fielding to
try and work out what the problem was. They came to the conclusion
that KP was over excited as he moved in while the bowler came in to
bowl and that his weight wasn't on both feet at the instant the ball
was bowled, thus making it harder for him to react in time when the
ball was hit to him.

Now, I know that Fletcher & Penny are clearly merceneries and therefor
eform part of the enemy within who like nothing better to do than
undermine English cricket, and so it's probably the case that they're
viciously spreading misinformation, but on the off chance that they
might be right, might the obvious conclusion be that KP is almost too
keen in the field & that he's got too much adreneline in his system an
he's too hyped up and generally "up for it". This would fit with his
demeanor and his breathtaking approach to batting at times.

Now I know it's been said by some (one?) that despite KP's excellent
form with the bat this summer, his, er, mercenary background means that
he lacks the patriotic commitment to the England side and a desire to
cry God for Harry, England and Saint George that a true born, English
accented, white , RH approved lad would, and indeed that this lack of
passion and commitment to the cause is the root cause of his sneaky and
dastardly foreign habit of spilling all those catches that good honest
Anglo-Saxon yeomen would catch as a matter of pride, but don't
Fletcher's (& Penny's) comments rather suggest that this is not in fact
the case?

Perhaps the secret might be for KP to cut back of the caffine and learn
a bit of yoga - if Fletcher & Penny are right, his fumbles in the field
have got sod all to do with him being born a South African. The idea
that he's simply in it for himself and lacks a desire to see his side
win at all costs is quite clearly bunk.
