any recommendations for a webcam and software

Has anyone got a webcam working attached to their Virtual Weather Station or any other software? I have the Davis VP2 wireless set up and there are many things I would like to do given the time and knowledge. A start would be a low cost webcam that's suitable for achieving an archive of images within a program such as Virtual Weather Station.

Please supply details of a) webcams that work and b) respective software
