A pet irritation of mine, that, especially for forecasts aimed at the
general public and media. When frost and ice are an issue then it's a bit
different, but I'd contend that in the summer the daytime max is *much*
more important to the general public than the night-time min.
Today and tonight make a good example: at the moment it's 17°C and
doesn't seem like falling much, while this afternoon it maxed out at a
pleasantly warm but certainly not hot 22°C. A daily mean of 19.5°C, yet
nothing more than reasonable warmth at any point.
Mind you, looking at the Met Office maps (well, squinting - they're *far*
too small for comfortable reading) it seems that even on the standard
mean measure it's been average at best, and wet with it.
