The forecasts seem to have changed in the last couple of days and the
promised good spell this week seems to be not happening: now it looks
like we're only going to get two good days this week, Tuesday and
Thursday, in the south. There seems to be a lot of variability in the
models: none suggest any sustained *really* bad weather in the south
(though I don't much like the look of Friday to Sunday) and most
suggest pressure generally (just) the right side of 1016mb for the
foreseeable future. However will this produce average-to-warm
conditions or will we go back to the unpleasantly cool weather of late
July?

Over the last few months I have have been watching the forecasts for
the jet stream in the North Atlantic here:http://virga.sfsu.edu/crws/jetstream_fcsts.html
When there is dark gray forecast over the South of England we have
ended up with cloudy an rainy weather here in Dorset.
Only Tuesday and Wednesday look as though we are safe down here, while
the jet stream lies over Scotland and the North of England, before it
moves south again.
Cheers, Alastair.
Of course the jet stream forecast only looks 5 days ahead, but the map
for Saturday shows lots more building up over Hudson Bay ready to
reach us next week :-(
