I was concerned about Vista when I bought a new laptop three months
ago. Absolutely no problems converting my "ideas" from XP to Vista.
Indeed I still have an old laptop that runs on XP and can switch
between the two without effort.
However, I see no advantages with Vista. But if it's there, just live
with it. Not difficult.

There are some advantages, but most rather not immediately obvious.
I've gradually began to realise the benefits (though you do need a
fairly current PC to do so). The much criticised backup/restore is
very good once you realise it ignores items in the Windows folder.
Therefore my many gigabytes of photos, which are archived and can
therefore be ignored, I put in a 'My Archive' folder in the Windows
folder, with a shortcut from Pictures. Doing this sort of thing can
make backup/restore very quick & easy, just concentrating it's mind on
the things that are currently changing, but to a User, the folder is
still where you expect it to be. Also Defrag runs in the background,
Media player is a big improvement so you don't really need DVD/CD
burning S/W (though I have!)
I would recommend the just released IE8 which is a VAST improvement on
the slow IE7. In fact on my PC it's now much faster than Firefox.
