Despite being closest to Siberia (sic) and a couple of days of 10 to
15kt ( Bitter) East winds early in the period, the most noteworthy
thing has been the almost continuous cloud cover and small diurnal
temperature variation, as recorded at EGSH. Day temperatures around 3
or 4 C and night times near ZERO to PS02. On only one occasion did I
need to scrape ice from my car (parked in a North facing drive) in the
morning though on some evenings the cloud briefly broke and it looked
as though a sharp frost would set in, but the cloud always returned.
In fact my car was actually completely dry on some mornings. This was
repeated last night.
The N Sea effects even in light winds maintain a major effect In stark
contrast to the radiation conditions further inland.

Same for SE London just had our first frost again since the 30th. In
between cloud cover and temps between 4c day time and 1-2 c by the
early morning. However I have to say I was surprised at how cold it
was around 11 am as the temp in my west caing garden just outside the
kitchen was minus 4c. So that's pretty cold, mind you when I went for
my evening walk the skys had cleared.
