Sorry, France, that is...

After about 10 days of temperatures around 30 degrees C, the plume
tomorrow seems likely to give us around 35 degs.  A tad too
uncomfortable for me, I suspect.  Wednesday sees the advance of the
cold front (which will also affect the UK) and we're hoping for some
spectacular thunderstorms!  With all the hype, though, it'll probably
be a damp squib.

Welcome to July!

30C forecast for Paris today, but the warmest air has probably been
prevented from reaching us. Touch and go whether we'll reach 28C, for
me. I don't think 30C will be reached. It may be the warmest day, so
far, this year, but I doubt it will be warmer than any day last year.
Remains to be seen and events could prove me wrong in those
temperature predictions - that sun will be strong - but the air it is
working on is nothing like as warm as was possible for the SE only a
few days ago. Temps of around 13C this morning are unlikely to lead to
30C this afternoon in the UK.

Will there be thunderstorms? Probably, in some areas, but we aren't
talking the possible supercells and torrential possibilities of a few
days ago either! Wimbledon may catch one, but the nature of them means
that the tennis may escape with a couple of largely dry days. In fact,
the whole tournament may stay largely dry, with only a few rain
interruptions. The main rain looks like coming after Wimbledon
finishes.

Oh Piers, I'll bet you are desperate for one of those thunderstorms to
produce some localised flooding!! Glastonbury, as Dave said, passed
with some light drizzle - not the torrential downpours you forecast.

He must have enough egg dripping off his face to make a decent
omelette by now - though I think the only takers will be the pigs he
saw flying over Borough market...
