True David and a new date record for today is still possible. These<snip>

WeatherOnline now has a 28C listed for Great Malvern, so it's certainly
going to be close - although as the existing record is 28.3C, the odds
would seem to be against its quite getting there.
I was expecting higher than the 26.7C I recorded, but a large cloud
intervened at the critical time in the afternoon.

27.5C at Great Malvern. Just the one date record in this spell, but a
continuing exceptional and probably overall record-breaking, start to
May. Now who would have predicted that after the cooler weather of
early spring? The UK is a fantastic place to experience changing
weather! There's likely to be a gradual cooling this week, with each
day having a UK max lower than the previous - perhaps the exact
opposite of last week. Today will still see some very warm
temperatures, especially in the West, but I don't think it'll get
quite as high as 27.5C.

Not quite as warm today; 25/26C the maxes, but a superb day's weather
again across much of the country (OK, most would say it was superb, I
know it doesn't suit everyone). Just wonderful weather for the first
half of May. 5C above the CET average for the first 11 days (thanks
Philip) and that may continue to rise, a little, for 2 days more,
before a gradual decline away from this record-breaking start to May.
