whenIt's all so very very sad that those days are gone. Just occasionally
fallsit snows hard I get an inkling of what it might have been like, but
seldom last nowadays :-(
I don't get why is it all so sad?
Because snow is beautiful. It helps to differentiate the seasons. Snow has
inspired many painters and artists. I feel sad that my grandchildren may
never be able to appreciate the joy of ice and seeing trees covered in rime
and snow in their local neighbourhood. Snow has been a part of the regular
British winter climate till recently. Nature herself needs cold weather to
stay in balance else one gets trees and animals waking too early and then
get caught out or not go through a proper cycle. Yes 1947 and 1963 were
harsh winters but then you can say 2007 was a harsh summer. Snow is loved by
many folk in Haytor and one only has to see the joy on everyones faces when
the sledges come out to realise it is very very sad if that is to become a
thing of the past. I too like warm(ish) and sunny weather but in the right
season, not in the middle of winter.
