Actually, I disagree.

We are so fixated on what the clocks say that daylight saving
time is an excellent idea, because it gives more light in the
evenings for those people who spend most of the daylight hours
indoors at work.

I always hated it when the clocks went back in autumn, because
from then until early March I had to go to work in the dark and
come home in the dark, and only ever saw daylight at weekends. I
would far rather have gone to work long before dawn, and had my
leisure time later during the daylight hours.

As clock time is fairly arbitrary anyway, it would make far more
sense if all clocks all over the world said the same thing, and
employers and individuals suited their working/waking hours to
local daylight, irrespective of where the hands of the clock
are.
