Today's model interpretation (13/07/05)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0530z,
13 July 06.

As with the last few days the outlook remains largely settled across the UK.
It's likely to remain on the warm side, although there are signs that some
cooler air could be advected southwards in the longer term over the UK
depending on the positioning of the nearby high.

ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif
A ridge covers the UK with light winds for much of England and Wales. To the
north and NW, winds are SW'lies due to a deep low near Iceland. Pressure
builds to the west at T+144, bringing NW'lies for northern Scotland and
northerlies or NNE'lies elsewhere. T+168 sees a ridge build over Scotland
and Northern Ireland with NE'lies elsewhere.

MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif
The UK lies under a ridge from the west, leading to very light northerlies
and NE'lies for England and Wales, with westerlies for Scotland and Northern
Ireland. The ridge builds to the north of Scotland at T+144, dragging
NE'lies across much of the UK.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
Easterlies cover England, Northern Ireland and Wales due to a large high
centred over the North Sea. Winds are light across Scotland and the same is
true at T+144 as a weak trough crosses Ireland. England and Wales lie under
a mix of SE'lies and ENE'lies, with a ridge persisting over the North Sea.
There's little change at T+168.

Unavailable today.

JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings high pressure over the North Sea with ENE'lies over
England and Wales. Scotland and Norhern Ireland lie under light southerlies
or SSW'lies.

NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif
NOGAPS is very similar to JMA, again showing a high over the North Sea and a
mixture of ENE'lies and southerlies for the UK.
