South Essex quagmire

I've been mowing (or at least trying to mow) in the Langdon Hills area
today and I can honestly say I've never seen the ground so wet. Much of
the field I was scheduled to cut was just too wet and the ride-on mower
got stuck and had to be pulled out.
It is going to take weeks of sunny weather to dry this lot out.
Being clay I realise that it doesn't take much to make the ground in
this area wet - but I've never known it to be this wet since the early
Eighties.
