Never mind that what the hell is the astronomy graphic about?
This is important though as the variability of fogs betrays the
likelihood of hurricanes in the tropics:
BACKGROUND:
The research project 1-DEFOP is joint venture of the national weather
service of Switzerland, MeteoSwiss and the Institute of Meteorology,
Climatology and Remote Sensing (MCR) Department of Geosciences,
University of Basel.
It is financed by the State Secretariat for Education and Research, SBF
of the Swiss Government in the framework of COST Action 722. The
project duration is approximately 3 years. It started in February 2004
and will last until the end of 2006.
The results of the project work are presented under the roof of working
group 2 of COST 722. The aim of the project is to establish a >>>>>
fog/visibility <<<<< prediction scheme. The primary focus is to enhance
the forecasts at the international airports in Switzerland.
