new webcam - nearly!

We have finally acquired a webcam and we are in the process of seeing how it
works
- its just a little Toucam on 3 USB repeaters to get to the computor! So far
so good

Am I right in remembering that those of you with this sort of set up have
added Kab cam software for uploading adn stuff?
Does that give me the tools to capture frames and up load them like Alan's
does?
What else do I need?
