Dave,
As Digital Donkey says, Woodford had a lot of snow and I don't think that
minimum is suspicious at all. Here in Withington, a bit further up the A34,
we still have lying snow with the rain currently doing its best to get rid
of it, although the temperature is still only 2.6degC. We reached a minimum
of -4.6degC the night of Woodford's -7.7degC.
The snow suddenly stops after Fallowfield, a notable urban heat island
effect. Having said that, the canal in Castlefield is frozen solid once
again, more so than previously.
It sounds like it's throwing it down outside but it's all the snowmelt from
roofs etc. creating the noise.
