The US Government considered using nukes along with cloud seeding in hurricanes a few years ago but the radiation lasts for thousands of years. In Ritas case detonating a nuclear weapon in it would render the south coast of the usa uninhabitable and make no difference whatsoever as the energy locked up in tropical revolving storms measures in gigatons of tnt..
