And until the new claendar he introduced slipped back into political
whim, it had a 10 month zodiac. That is as much as I know on the
subject.
Anyone have any idea how it would have worked?

Interesting question. The best I can do currently is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_calendar
If that doesn't insert just google up "Roman Calendar"
and click the first entry ( of ca. 5 million )
Particularly interesting was the assertion:
The calendar lasted 304 days and there were
about 61 days of Winter that did not fall within
the calendar. (!?)
