Question: why would one use 2" and not the supplied 1.25" objectives?

Reddog.

The supplied eyepieces are OK, but I got intrigued by the reports I was
seeing about the benefits of getting a wide-angle 2" fitting eyepiece.
These have the benefit that their angle of view isn't restricted by the
small dimensions of the standard 1.25" eyepieces. So a year ago, I bought a
30mm 2" fitting 80deg eyepiece. (I wear spectacles which affects my viewing
comfort with many eyepieces.)
Look here (download the pdfs for more info)
http://moonfishgroup.com/catalog/index.php?currency=GBP&language=en
for something very similar to what I bought. It's marvellous for checking
out the Pleiades and other clusters.
A few years ago all 2" eyepieces were costing serious amounts of money.
