Need ideas on how to improve a moon picture

I originally posted this on comp.graphics.apps.gimp and someone suggested I post it here as well...
I've recently tried taking pictures of the moon in raw mode with my Nikon Coolpix 8800 and tripod. Here are three successive edits of the same picture:
Original cropped: http://members.cox.net/no.spam.please/moon01_crop.jpg
Levels corrected: http://members.cox.net/no.spam.please/moon02_levels.jpg
Unsharp mask applied: http://members.cox.net/no.spam.please/moon03_unsharp.jpg
Any ideas on how to further improve this would be greatly appreciated.
For anyone who is interested, here is the EXIF data: Nikon COOLPIX8800 2006/01/13 18:09:56 RAW (12-bit) Image Size: 3264 x 2488 Color Converter Lens: None Focal Length: 89mm Exposure Mode: Manual Metering Mode: Spot 1/250 sec - F/7.4 Exposure Comp.: 0 EV Sensitivity: ISO 50 White Balance: Auto AF Mode: AF-S Tone Comp.: Auto Flash Sync Mode: Not Attached Digital Zoom Ratio: 1.00 Saturation comp: 0 Sharpening: Normal Noise Reduction: Off
